Age:

Our wonderful mother, Marion Chesnut, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016. She was born on December 22, 1926 to Jacob and Mary Mosesian of Selma, California.

Mom worked as a teacher for the Fresno Unified School District. She also was a pioneer for the Head Start Program as their first head teacher in the state. Mom was a book editor, raisin inspector and ended her working career at the Internal Revenue Service. But probably, the work she enjoyed and mastered the most was being such a fabulous mother.

Mom also had sadness in her life… She lost her wonderful Sammy unexpectedly, when she was eight months pregnant, with two small girls. Mom said many times she would not have survived without the love and support of her family. Mom believed she had the best family in the whole world. She adored her sister Venus; brothers, Ernie, Larry, and Buddy; and had a special bond and respect for her parents, Jacob and Mary.

She went back to school to get her teaching credential so she could support her girls. Everyone loved Marion. She was warm, loving, smart and nonjudgmental. Mom always knew what was important in life. You always felt comfortable and relaxed in her presence.

Mom found happiness again when she met her second husband Chuck. They were married for 46 years when he passed away. Chuck must have really loved her to become an instant father to three little girls.

Mom was a fun, loving lady who cherished her family and valued friendships. Mom loved music and could play the piano by ear. Mom enjoyed trips to Santa Cruz, CA., with all her siblings and cousins, cruises to Mexico and the Bahamas, and weekend trips to San Francisco, CA., and Yosemite.

What brought her the most happiness was to be surrounded by family and friends, eating and playing games. Mom was a champion at backgammon, canasta and scrabble. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and belonged to a bowling league.

                  “Mom, we already miss you…”

Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Mary Mosesian; brothers, Ernie, Larry, and Buddy; and sister, Venus Rogers.

She is survived by her daughters, Gail Purtell, and partner, Richard Kalashian of Fresno, CA., Terry Brown, and husband, Les of Sanger, CA., and Robin Morris, and husband, Joe of Los Osos, CA.; grandchildren, Bobby and wife Aubrey, Jacob, Issac, and Joe Morris, and Daniel and Carley Brown; great granddaughter, Rilynn Rose Morris; her faithful dog Jack; many nieces, nephews and cousins; wonderful caregivers, Wendy, Ida, Diane and Marina; and long time neighbors, Ruth Heinricks, and Karl Dishian.

Visitation will be held at Yost & Webb Funeral Home on Friday, August 26, 2016, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
